Subtitle reads, "In Which The Words are deduced from their Originals, Explained in their Different Meanings, And Authorized by the Names of the Writers in whose Works they are found...To which is prefixed, A Grammar of the English Language." Johnson died in 1784. Bound in calf with spines and edges gilded. Signed by previous owners on front endpapers of both volumes.
