Covers double ruled in gilt, dentelles, marbelized endpapers, aeg, gilt decorations to spine. This copy does not have the 16 page publisher's list in rear, and has "aguish" (not anguish) on page 26, line 17. This copy is listed as A3.1 in the Ives bibliography recently published by Oak Knoll Books, which states some copies have a 16-page catalogue bound in; hence, the absence of a catalogue doesn't mean it was removed (and there is no evidence of such in this copy).With the bookplate of E. Hubert Litchfield (presumably the original owner), a noted personage, author of works relating to travel and adventure and noted collector of fine important books and manuscripts. After his death in 1949, his collection was sold in Sotheby's auction in December 1951. This volume has the bookplate across from Litchfield's on the ffe of Margaret Jane Pershing, also a well-known bibliophile, whose Emily Dickinson collection was given to the Princeton University Library in 1969. Besides Litchfield's bookplate, this copy has his signature dated Boston Xmas 1904 on th eupper right corner of the fly. (Inventory #: 013609)
