SIGNED. 224pp. Folio [34 cm] Brown cloth over boards with a black ink stamped title on the spine, and an embossed circular design on the front board. The front hinge is trifle soft, the cloth is just a hair frayed along the bottom edge of the front board, and there is a minor lean to the spine. In the dust jacket, with multiple light indented scratches to the panels, and a 1 3/4" closed tear to the top edge at the spine. May require extra postage due to weight. Photographer Carol Beckwith studied and lived in Japan and New Guinea before deciding, in 1974, to make Africa her working base. Her first book, Maasai, won the prestigious Anisfield-Wolf Award in Race Relations. Warmly inscribed by Carol Beckwith, with a sketch, on the front free endpaper.
