Philadelphia: The Indian Rights Association, 1886. First Edition. Wraps. Charles Cornelius Painter (1833-95) was an abolitionist, Native American advocate, and Congregational minister. As an Agent of The Indian Rights Association, he traveled across the United States in the late 19th century, reporting on the conditions and challenges faced by Native Americans. He visited a variety of territories and reservations, interacting with tribal leaders and community members to gather first-hand accounts. Octavo: 29, [3, blanks] pp. Original printed paper wrappers. It appears the front panel was repaired along the inner margin. Some uneven toning to the wrappers, with a small chip to the bottom corner of the front panel. (Inventory #: 78046)
