London: Frederick Muller, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition. 208 pp.with eight pages of b/w photos. Bound in publisher's black cloth with gilt spine lettering. Near Fine with slightly bumped corners, in a Very Good+ price-clipped dust jacket, typical slight bubbling to laminate, front flap creased. One of the very first critical books on the JFK assassination, published in Great Britain before the Warren Commission had even issued its infamous report. A wide-ranging, questioning (rather than accusatory) work with a brief bio of Oswald, an outline of Kennedy's administration and the assassination's immediate aftermath, mention of the Greer "slow down," and more. The title refers to the red roses Jacqueline Kennedy received from Dallas mayor (and, it would be revealed decades later, CIA asset) Earle Cabell's wife upon her and her husband's arrival in Texas, which was only unusual in that it was not the customary yellow roses of Texas. The bouquet wound up in the limo during the assassination.
