Sauk City, WI: Arkham House Publishers, 1971. First Edition, Third Printing, and Third State Dust Jacket. Hardcover. Octavo, xi, 432 pages. In Very Good minus condition with a Very Good condition dust jacket. Orange spine with black lettering. Dust jacket is wrapped in a mylar covering, price uncut "$6.50", has mild shelving wear. Boards have light bumping to spine head/tail, and liquid damage to the front tail joint corner and the rear tail edge. Textblock has purple stains along the tail edges of the pastedowns, minor liquid damage to most pages throughout along the tail end of gutter, and blue stains along the tail edges. Shelved in Room A. The title and copyright pages indicate a 1964 publication date; however, the publisher's limitation page notes that this is the third printing of 3,000 copies, issued in 1971. Additionally, the dust jacket differs from other orange-variant editions, as it references "The Horror in the Museum and Other Revisions", a collection of Lovecraft’s work published in 1970. These details confirm that this is the third edition, with its dust jacket, released in 1971. 1396699. Special Collections.
