Slight rubbing to the head and tail of the jacket spine and corners, rear jacket panel a little toned. Overall clean and bright, nicer than usually seen. Cover designed by Laurence Edwards. Kavan's penultimate novel, like all her work, hallucinatory and bleak. This first edition is extremely uncommon. Her publisher Peter Owen rejected the book as being too short, and it was published by the tiny Scorpion Press, which usually published poetry. (Inventory #: 2543)
