Previous owner's bookplate on the front free endpaper. Occult symbols ink stamp on title page. Text block cracked at the beginning (book still very sturdy). Closed tears to the half title and title page along the top edge measuring roughly 1 and 1/2". Pages age-toned. With the Latin passages translated into English, and with a biographical preface and essay on the esoteric literature of western Christendom by Arthur Edward Waite. Thomas Vaughan (1621-1666) is primarily known for his alchemical studies and search for the philosopher's stone. Vaughan, who wrote on Rosicrucian philosophy, alchemy, and Christian Mysticism, published his works under the pseudonym Eugenius Philathes.
