A scarce memorial publication dedicated to Polish-American physician and pioneering proponent of women in medicine Marie E. Zakrzewska, published by the Boston institution she founded in 1862. Zakrzewska had previously helped establish, with fellow-physicians Elizabeth and Emily Blackwell, the New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children in 1857, where she served as resident physician and provided scarce clinical training to female students. She continued to advance those dual goals over four decades as head of the New England Hospital for Women and Children (now the Dimock Community Health Center) until her retirement in 1899. [cf. ANB] . Very Good. Paperback .
