Recent black cloth, gilt fillets and title to spine, endpapers renewed. Light browning to text (somewhat lighter or heavier in places), occasional light foxing. $600. * First American edition, based on the first London edition (1800). Roper Stote Donnison Roper, a barrister of Gray's Inn, wrote several well-received legal treatises. His work was acclaimed by Lord Eldon, Joseph Story, and James Kent (DNB).
