In original blue cloth with white lettering, Very Good, end pages uniformly browned, prior owner names at both front and rear end papers who were presumably students at the School, slight bowing to boards, 1/2" tear at top of p. 65. 287 pages, with illustrations and photographs. Madam Walker's text book was the first specifically covering the skills needed to become beauty culturalists for African-American women. The text book and the school were so successful that they made Madam Walker the first female self-made millionaire in America. OCLC locates 7 copies of the 3rd Edition, which at 287 pages was much expanded over the 1927 1st Edition with 211 pages, that edition also held by 7 institutions, while the 2nd Edition is only held by one. A handsome copy of this important African-American cultural milestone. .
