Middledrift, South Africa[?]: Paolo by Robinson, 1909. Unbound. Very Good. Photographic portrait on thin card stock. Approximately 5" x 7.5" Printed recto only. Some smudging, a tiny tear, and slight creases, about very good. The neatly-dressed Baptist missionaries are seated facing the camera. The Reverend James E. East was raised in Huntsville, Alabama and educated at Virginia Union Seminary, before going. The Easts were important and influential missionaries. Their daughter Gladys V. East, who would later become an important missionary in her own right in Liberia, West Africa. Together the Easts spent 48 years of their lives as missionaries in Africa. (Inventory #: 606263)
