A study of the radical group of Irish and Irish-American coal miners in Pennsylvania, by a member of the Schuylkill County Bar. The organization was infiltrated by the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, leading to the trial, conviction, and execution of several of its members. This work provides a history of the group from its origins in Ireland, as well as a history of the anthracite coal fields in Pennsylvania which were the site of the labor strikes and riots that led to the group's notoriety. The alleged crimes and trials are covered in detail, and several useful appendices follow the text.
