Mild shelf wear to boards, including bumping to heads, tails, and corners; staining to boards of Vol. I; age-toning to text blocks and endpapers; bookplates and notations by previous owner on front paste-downs; notations in pencil to back paste-down of Vol. I; light age-toning to interior pages, illustrations by Newell and text by Carroll remain clear and legible.

Dust jackets are green; dust jacket is in two pieces for Vol. I (back cover and flap housed in back endpapers); dust jacket is in three pieces for Vol. II (front cover, front flap, back cover and flap) with gilt lettering and decoration to front cover; residue staining from removed non-archival tape to dust jacket of Vol. II.
