[Brooklyn, NY?]: [Blue Pencil Club?], 1927. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition. [iv], 30 pp with photograph portrait reproduction of Hazel Pratt Adams (1888-1927). Bound in publisher's side-stapled green wraps lettered in black. Near Fine with oxidation to staples, light fading at spine and corners, light indentation marks to front cover and offsetting from portrait to first few leaves of contents. A scarce elegy written by H. P. Lovecraft in a funeral program for his deceased friend and literary colleague. Adams, born Hazel Bosler Pratt, was a stenographer by trade and amateur journalist. She was named editor of the amateur journal The Brooklynite and served various roles, including president, for the Brooklyn Amateur Journalists Club, later named the Blue Pencil Club in 1912. Lovecraft's wife, Sonia Greene, was a member of the Blue Pencil Club for a number of years and their friendship grew. Hazel was one of the first visitors to Lovecraft and Greene's Brooklyn home after their nuptials in 1924. Quite rare. OCLC locates a mere 2 institutional copies. Joshi I.B.iii.a.
