Recent three-quarter calf over speckled boards, gilt rules along edges of calf, lettering piece, gilt fillets and publication date to spine, endpapers renewed. A few minor smudges to boards, light toning to interior, light foxing to a few leaves at end of text and title page, which has two tiny markings in early hands ("D.23" and "Ho"). $750. * Only edition. Among other offices, including a term in the House of Commons in 1628, John Philipot was an officer in the College of Arms from 1618-1628, holding the offices of Blanche Lyon Pursuivant, Rouge Dragon Pursuivant and Somerset Herald of Arms. When Philepot's time in Parliament was interrupted by Charles I's Personal Rule (1629-1640), he returned to the College of Arms. The Catalogue is a collection of brief biographies of all of England's Lord Chancellors, Lord Keepers of the Great Seal and Lord Treasurers.
