"With bashful greetings I am reaching for the hand of the reader - to enter the glasshouse! I am bewildered about how much malice on film is compiled here. But it comes from the heart. And that's always a sign of love. Our book has one advantage. It is written from the soul of cinema. The atmosphere is saturated with coal dust– the fragrance of celluloid... As it is it will fill an empty quarter of an hour, and what couldn't be said in words, the eyes of beautiful women will say, who's pictures grace these pages." (Max Mack)
Publication on the early days of film with contributions by Hans Brennert, Ewald Andre Dupont, Rudolf Kurtz, and Arthur Landsberger; with illustrations by Lutz Ehrenberger and pictures of women by Studio Schenker. Profusely illustrated with film stills and head shots. The majority of the illustrations by Ehrenberger rendered lithographically.
Text in German, Gothic script. Wraps with some light chipping along edges and front joint cracked. Block with light age-toning. (Inventory #: 55097)
