May includes an inebriated self portrait bust length sketch at the end of his letter allowing his correspondent to use his sketches for publication. "It would be better if you could work it for the News as my studies don't stand reduction very well...you are at liberty to use the sketches you have in in hand...." He ends the letter with a bust length sketch of himself, smoking and looking at a drink, possibly a martini. "Excuse the blots, had a rather sultry evening last night...." The sketch shows in the lower left corner of the letter to the left of his signature, "Phil May." The 8vo page measures 8vo letter measures 4 x 7 inches.
