first edition
1985 · Atlanta, GA
by Smith, Keith A.
Atlanta, GA: Nexus Press, 1985. Near fine.. Scarce first edition of one of the earliest digitally composed artist's books — following Smith through a journey of desire and distorted memories. Smith is best known for his bookmaking series which resulted in over 280 unique artist books. From photography, printmaking, computer drawings, and more, Smiths disregard for categorization helped redefine what it means to create an artist book during a time in which art and technology were rapidly merging. In the process of creating this work, Smith used the basic composition of each page, triplicated them, and modified them into three separate colors. Bright. 8.5'' x 10.5''. Original pictorial paper wrappers. Edition of 1000 copies printed on Mohawk Superfine. [44] pages. Illustrations offset in magenta, cyan, and yellow. Minor edgewear and faint traces of soil. Vibrant and firm.
