The second installment in Ward's series of books which describe the action entirely through woodcut illustrations. This book tells the story of a slave trader driven insane after killing a slave and stealing his drum. Two of the images from the work were used in Henry Murray's Thematic Apperception Test of personality traits. Ward's work has been credited with inspiring Will Eisner and Art Spiegelman, and paved the way for modern graphic novels.
