First state binding in publisher's dark blue cloth with gilt stamping and black endpapers; 342 pp; ten black and white plates, lacking two. No dust jacket. Boards worn along edges with brief exposure to extremities and chipping and minor fraying to spine ends; large patch of staining and discoloration to spine and front board; general scuffing and spotting. Opens easily between gatherings with occasional gaps showing and a few signatures proud, but binding is secure. Bookplate of a W.C. Thomas to front pastedown. Front free endpaper a bit loose but present and attached; a few stains and spots to interior, else unmarked and legible. A Good or slightly better copy.
