Five issues of Radical America magazine, Vol. 22, Nos. 1–6, 1988. Somerville, MA. Each issue saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Measures approximately 10" x 7". Each issue is 64 pages. An archive of five issues from the 22nd volume of Radical America, the Socialist-feminist journal associated with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and influenced by the New Left. These issues document the journal’s late-1980s editorial turn toward critical engagements with gender, race, and sexuality. Prominent contributors across the run include Michael Bronski, Marlene Gerber Fried, Simon Nkoli, Paul Buhle, and Rey Chow, and there are interviews with stalwarts of the American Left such as Noam Chomsky and Michael Harrington. Overall very good condition.

Features Oscar Montero’s “Lipstick Vogue: The Politics of Drag” and Michael Bronski’s “Eros and Politicization: Sexuality, Politics, and the Idea of Community,” alongside Annie Popkin’s account of Bread and Roses, a Boston-based women’s liberation group. Includes a Vietnam War retrospective and labor analysis on Spain’s dockworkers.
