Major John McBride gave his life for Ireland, executed by the British for his role in the Easter Rising of 1916. There now stands a statue of him in his home town of Westport, County Mayo, at South Mall. *OCLC* locates only two holdings of this song and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade.
