Limited to 250 copies signed by Maurice Sendak (Introduction) and Iain Bain who supervised the project (this being number 165).
Small quarto (5 3/8 x 4 inches; 137 x 102 mm.). [1-4], 5-23, [1, blank], [1, acknowledgments], [1, blank] pp. Thirty four prints, each print in a numbered gray paper folder.
Housed in the publisher's original blue cloth clamshell case, inset vignette to front boards, dark green label on spine lettered in gilt. A very fine example.
These boxed prints are reproduced from the original blocks created for the first private edition of 1901, featuring images that were omitted from the commercial publication. The set includes 34 exquisitely crafted prints, rendered in brown ink on 100% cotton, acid-free paper. Each print is protected by a tissue guard and housed in an individual gray folder, which is numbered and features an excerpt of text. Additionally, a separate booklet with an introduction by Maurice Sendak is included. (Inventory #: 06126)
