[no date]. Near Fine. 14 x 11 inches. Single sheet of paper with black and white watercolor illustration on recto of a large telescope in the background and a scientist sitting on his desk exclaiming into the phone "Did you know your earth satellite has a screw loose" with an look of exasperation. The verso has the text "Horizon Page 250" in blue pencil. We're not sure what the story is here, nor where it was published. There was a Horizon magazine (now defunct) which did contain scientific articles and one astronomy forum noted in the 1970s there was an article on the 200" Hale Telescope. If anyone happens to know where this was published, anything about the artist, or the event please let me know!
The instrument looks a lot like the 200" Hale Telescope or the 100" Hooker Telescope at Mount Wilson Observatory, the largest telescope in the world for over 30 years.
Regardless, a great piece of original art that any engineer/astronomer can relate to! (Inventory #: 29569)
