Christopher Mackenzie Priest (1943-2024) began writing full-time in 1968 and would eventually go on to win numerous awards, including, for this work alone, BSFA nominee, 1995; World Fantasy Award winner; James Tait Black Memorial Prize winner; and Clarke Awards nominee, 1996.
"The Prestige" was made into a movie in 2006, starring Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman; other notable cast members included Michael Caine, Andy Serkis, and David Bowie.
