Mattie and Isaiah" -- 1875 Pinprick Folk Art

United States, 1875. Good. Toned with a couple water stains, light dust soiling.. A charming example of pin prick folk artwork, hand made and captioned "Mattie and Isaiah Dec. 8th 1875" on the bottom, and at the side, "Ella Griffin North Side". The image has been pricked with a pin into thick Victorian machine-made paper, and depicts a woman in a bustle facing a little boy in a hat. Red silk ribbon has been naively sewn around the edges to create a colorful border, with a small loop at the top for display. Possibly made by a child. Measures approx. 5" by 4", verso blank.
